To the editor:
Often it seems that our elected officials are unapproachable to any but the rich and powerful. This is not the case with Sen. Jerry Moran. He is the most approachable person in the Senate.
A majority of the members of Congress live full-time in the D.C. area, only spending a lot of time in their districts/states during the election cycle.
Sen. Moran returns to the state nearly every weekend and on most visits is holding town halls. He actually gets to every county in the state at least twice per election cycle and much more often in the larger counties.
I have been to several of his town halls in Leavenworth, Wyandotte and Johnson counties. In those town halls you quickly realize, while supporters are usually a plurality, that he is willing to take on all comers and questions with respect and often humor.
He is willing to take on opposition without pandering and remain faithful to his policy positions with well-reasoned argument.
This good man deserves reelection to the U.S. Senate.
